An A/C Compressor is a pump used to draw in low- pressure refrigerant gas and compress it into a high-temperature high-pressure gas. A second purpose of the A/C compressor is to move the refrigerant through the system. There are various makes and types of A/C compressors used in automotive air conditioning systems operating on R134a. The internal design could be Piston, Scroll, Wobble Plate, Variable Stroke or Vane.
